Remarks:

I’m torn on a fish like this.  The patterning, being one of the few “horned” maroons that showed up, is show stopping in itself.  Left flank horn trailing from the midstripe is pretty darn cool.  That said, the gills might be a tad bit short, the ventral fins aren’t up to snuff.  There’s also a split in the tail at the time of taking the photo – this is no doubt aggression (or handling) and should heal.

A fish like this might wind up being culled or further grown out ordinarily (a wait and see). As with all fish being offered, the defects are not presumed genetic at this time, and the main reason for offering these fish is to broaden the size of the F1 population going forward (ensuring genetic stability where possible).
